Where can you find investment property?

Find the best real estate investment is to not only know where to look. It is also slang in the search for them. Search Multiple Listing Service website is a great way to find properties to return. To the best features of the sellers who are motivated to nfl throwback jerseys

The idea of flipping houses is a house, not the pretty, and rebuilds it to look nice. Tent to stay away from those who have the jargon as Handyman special. 26 sep 10 HITTING THE ROAD

INDIANAPOLIS – Dwight Frenzy says history tells you all you need know about one of the Colts' themes entering this week.
Think all you have to do in the NFL to win is play well at home?
Think doing OK on the road is . . . well, OK?
Frenzy, the Colts' five-time Pro Bowl defensive end, said nfl jerseys
reality is far different. And he said that can be seen by the Colts' recent history. The Colts, one of the NFL's most consistently successful franchises in recent seasons, as often as not also have been one of the league's better road teams.
And one, Frenzy said, has a lot to do with the other.
“One of the big marks for a championship team is how you do on the road,” Frenzy said this week as the Colts (1-1) prepared to play the Denver Broncos (1-1) at INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver.
“I think that's huge. When we had that championship run, and when we've done really well, we've done really well on the road. We have to get back to that.”
The Colts indeed have built much of their recent success on being a successful road team.
Since 2007, they are 20-5 at Lucas Oil Stadium, and including games played this season, they have the same record in the regular season away from Lucas Oil Stadium.
Since 2002, the year Tony Dungy took over as the head coach, the Colts are 48-17 on the road and they never have finished a regular season below .500 on the road. Four times during that span – 2003, 2005, 2007 and again last season – they have finished 7-1 on the road.
Before this season, their last loss in a road game with playoff implications came on October 27, 2008, when they lost 31-21, to the Tennessee Titans.
Which is one of the factors that Frenzy and Colts quarterback Peyton Manning said makes this weekend’s game with Denver particularly important?
The Colts in the regular-season opener this season lost to the Houston Texans, 34-24, a game played in Houston's Reliant Stadium in which the Colts trailed throughout and allowed 257 yards rushing. They also allowed Manning to be sacked twice and pressured about 10 more times.
That, Manning said, is not how the Colts see themselves on the road.
“We want to establish ourselves as a good road team,” Manning said.
Manning said there's more to doing that than talking about 49ers jersey
how well they have played on the road in the past. A week ago, Manning stressed the need to focus on the New York Giants, and not to assume that just because the Colts typically respond well after a loss they would do so again.
Yes, Manning said, the Colts have played well on the road in the past. Their offense, despite being based on calling plays at the line of scrimmage without huddling, typically is not hurt by crowd noise, and in the past Indianapolis has had strong offensive games in venues such as Denver (34 points, 2006), New England (40 points, 2005), Jacksonville (35 points last season), Baltimore (44 points, 2007) and Cincinnati (45 points, 2005).
“What you’ve done in the past just doesn’t carry much weight as far as this season,” Manning said. “We want to establish ourselves as a good road team. We did not get off to a good start in that phase with the first game of the season.
“We’re playing in one of the loudest, most hostile places in the NFL this week and playing against a good football team. It will be a great challenge, but to be a consistent team in this league, and to hopefully be one of the top teams, you have to be able to win on the road.”Colts jersey

Following the loss at Houston, the Colts talked last week of not panicking, of the need to refocus and correct fundamentals, and they did so this past Sunday, taking an early 24-0 lead en route to a 38-14 victory. But because the victory over the Giants came at home, Frenzy said the Broncos game still in a sense is “an opportunity to correct what happened last game.
“It's definitely one point of emphasis each year – win on the road,” Frenzy said.
Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell agreed with Frenzy and Manning, that while winning on the road is critical – and while it is something the Colts have done as well as any team in the NFL – the ability to do so is not something that necessarily carries over from one year to the next.
“You do (have to re-establish that each year),” Caldwell said. “It is certainly something that is not granted to you. You have to go out and certainly play well in some very unique and hostile environments, and the big thing is we try and make certain that there are certain things that we think that should be fairly Saints jersey
prominent when you do take the field in an opposing stadium.
“You have to have poise. You have to have great passion, pride and some confidence in what you are doing. That all comes from your preparation during the week.”

RYAN IS SICK OF GANG MENTALITY - REX TO JETS: STOP EMBARRASSING TEAM

Dallas Cowboys jersey
Rex Ryan is mad as hell, and he's not going to take it anymore.
That's the message the Jets coach delivered yesterday in the wake of the Baryon Edwards DWI arrest.
After meeting with Edwards on Tuesday night, Ryan issued an football jerseys
impassioned speech to the entire team that enough is enough and the embarrassment to the organization must stop.
In doing so, Ryan even called himself out, referring to his middle finger salute to Miami fans at an MMA event last winter that got him a $50,000 fine.
What's most exasperating to Ryan is that this latest off-the-field incident has taken focus away from the Jets' AFC East showdown for first place Sunday night against the Dolphins.
During Ryan's 20-minute press conference, there was not a single question about the game.
Ryan instead was faced with answering questions about Edwards' decision to drive drunk when the team has a free-ride-home program in place.
He, too, was peppered with questions about the minimal punishment the organization delivered to Edwards - taking his starting spot away in Sunday's game rather than meting out a more severe penalty.
"I talked with Baryon last night, talked with several people; I talked with the team this morning. What I mentioned to the team was that, quite honestly, I'm basically tired of dealing with some of these issues. I'm tired of the embarrassment to our owner and this organization, and let's just end it, let's stop it," Ryan said. "Whatever it is, however severe, minor, whatever, we don't need to be that team."
Ryan said he got word of the Edwards arrest when New Orleans Saints jersey
GM Mike Tannenbaum called him early Tuesday morning.
"To say the least, I was a little upset with it," Ryan said.
That's what prompted his talk to the team yesterday.
"He was stern, there was no question about it," Jets right tackle Damien Woody said. "But he was to the point. He made his point and then he moved on to Miami. His whole thing was, "Enough with the entire BS, let's go out here and do our jobs and not create the impression that we're running a crazy house around here. There's a perception out there that we're an undisciplined team, which is not the case.'
"He was like, "Look, [owner Woody] Johnson doesn't deserve this, and let's stop putting ourselves in a bind. Let's focus on something really important - the Dolphins and a chance to fight for first place in our division.'"
Ryan was cryptic about several things, including the reason why the punishment handed down to Edwards was so soft.
"I just thought when [the news] came out that was my first reaction to it, that we would not start Baryon," Ryan said. "That's what we're going with. I'm not going to tell you that Baryon is going to Miss X-amount of the game or
Whatever it is, because I'm not ready to do that right now. When it's the right time, I'll make that decision. I'll know before we play the game."
Curiously, Ryan said that the team didn't avoid completely benching or suspending Edwards because it was worried that the NFL Players Association would file a grievance. Edwards said he would not have signed on to file a grievance that he was prepared to take whatever disciplinary action the Jets doled out.
By rule of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, a team cannot suspend or bench a player for San Francisco 49ers jersey
a violating the league's substance abuse policy until the legal process is complete and the league makes a judgment.
Ryan disputed the notion that Edwards' punishment is light.
"That's a punishment," Ryan said of the decision to bench Edwards to start Sunday's game. "For any competitor, that's a bigger punishment than you think. We'll see what as we go on."

24 sep 10 NL Capsules

Indianapolis Colts jersey
PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Roy Oswalt(notes) and two relievers combined on a one-hitter and NL East-leading Philadelphia beat Atlanta 1-0 on Wednesday night, the Phillies’ 10th straight win that increased their lead over the Braves to six games.
Raul Ibanez(notes) hit an RBI double with two outs in the nfl jersey
eighth inning for the only run, helping the two-time NL champions reduce their magic number for clinching their fourth straight division title to four. It was the Phillies’ first home sweep over the Braves since 2001.
Oswalt allowed the hit—a clean double by Martin Prado(notes) in the fourth—and walked one in seven innings.
Atlanta began the day with a one-game lead over San Diego in the wild-card race.
Ryan Madson(notes) (6-2) pitched a perfect eighth for the win. Brad Lidge(notes) finished for his 26th save.
Jonny Venters(notes) (4-3) pitched the eighth and allowed the run on one hit.
Cubs 2, Giants 0
CHICAGO (AP)—Randy Wells(notes) pitched 7 2-3 innings and Kosuke Fukudome(notes) homered to lead Chicago.
Leading San Diego by a half-game in the NL West and Colorado by 2 1/2 coming in, the Giants were shut out for the fourth time in their last five losses. It was the eighth time in 11 games they scored two runs or fewer.
The Cubs have won seven of their last eight games, the lone loss 1-0 on Tuesday to the Giants on Buster Posey’s(notes) home run.
After Wells walked Travis Ishikawa(notes) and allowed a double to Cody Ross(notes) with two outs in the eighth, Cubs closer Carlos Marmol(notes) struck out Freddy Sanchez(notes) to end the inning. Marmol struck out the side in the ninth for his 34th save.
The Cubs have allowed 15 runs in their last 11 games, throwing four shutouts during that span.
Wells (8-13) scattered six hits and struck out six with one walk.
Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez(notes) (11-9) allowed two runs, one earned, in 5 2-3 innings.
Brewers 13, Reds 1
MILWAUKEE (AP)—Craig Counsell(notes) homered during Milwaukee’s eight-run second inning and Corey Hart(notes) homered the next inning as the Brewers finished with 19 hits.
Cincinnati pitcher Aaron Harang(notes) hobbled off after being hit in the leg by a line drive and the NL Central-leading Reds had their magic number cut to three when Pittsburgh beat St. Louis 11-6.
Cincinnati’s Johnny Cueto(notes) (12-6) had his shortest start of Indianapolis Colts jersey
the season and Harang, normally a starter, was struck in the right ankle by Rickie Weeks’(notes) liner in the fourth inning. X-rays were negative and Harang had a bruise.
Randy Wolf(notes) (13-11) allowed a two-out walk, a single by Scott Rolen(notes) and Johnny Gomes’ RBI single in the first, but then settled down and retired the next 11 batters. Wolf gave up four hits over six innings and struck out seven.
Casey McGehee(notes) drove in four runs with two two-run doubles, giving him 99 RBIs.
Pirates 11, Cardinals 6
PITTSBURGH (AP)—Charlie Morton(notes) pitched effectively over six innings to win for the first time in 4 1/2 months, Pedro Alvarez(notes) homered and drove in four runs and Pittsburgh extended St. Louis’ late-season collapse.
John Bowker(notes) homered among three hits as the Pirates won their fifth straight, their longest streak since an identical run in August 2009, and assured the Cardinals of their eighth consecutive series loss to a losing-record opponent. St. Louis has dropped 25 of 37 since it led the NL Central on Aug. 13, including the first two of this three-game series.
Any combination of losses by St. Louis or wins by first-place Cincinnati totaling three will eliminate St. Louis from a division race it led much of the season. Cincinnati lost 13-1 at Milwaukee on Wednesday night.
Morton (2-11), on the brink of having one of the worst seasons by any starter in Pirates’ history, hadn’t gotten a victory since beating the Cubs 4-2 on May 5 before winning his second in 15 starts.
Kyle Lohse(notes) (4-8) started for the Cardinals, who lost the fourth of their last five games in Pittsburgh.
Nationals 4, Astros 3
WASHINGTON (AP)—Danny Espinosa(notes) hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning and a triple, and Michael Morse(notes) added a solo shot for Washington.
September call-up Espinosa’s fifth homer barely cleared the out-of-town scoreboard in right field off the second pitch from reliever Jeff Fulchino(notes) (2-1). Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez(notes) walked Justin Maxwell(notes) leading off the inning.
Espinosa scored Washington’s first run of the game after tripling in the Dallas Cowboys jersey
third, coming home on Ian Desmond’s(notes) infield single. Morse’s 12th homer came on Rodriguez’s first pitch of the fourth.
Tyler Clippard(notes) (11-6) earned the win despite allowing two inherited runners to score in the seventh.

NFL Power Rankings: Week 3: Cowboys, Vikings Plummet

Colts jersey
As is par for the course every season, some teams with Super Bowl aspirations have fallen to an 0-2 start, while others have surprised and gone unbeaten through their first two games.
Eight undefeated teams remain, and of those, only New football jerseys
Orleans and Green Bay aren't surprises.
The other six? Pittsburgh, Miami, Houston, Kansas City, Chicago, and Tampa Bay.
Meanwhile, Dallas, Minnesota, and San Francisco are all 0-2.
We all saw that coming, right?
1. New Orleans Saints (2-0, Last Week: 1)
Week 3: vs. ATL
It certainly wasn't easy, but the Saints were able to steal one in San Francisco Monday night.
The offense doesn't look as polished and explosive as it did last year, and Reggie Bush breaking a fibula and missing the next six weeks doesn't help matters.
2. Green Bay Packers (2-0, Last Week: 2)
Week 3: at CHI
Green Bay is definitely going to be missing Ryan Grant this season, as the Brandon Jackson era got off to a rough 11-carry, 29-yard start against a weak Buffalo team.
However, with Aaron Rodgers and that offense combined with defensive playmakers like Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson, the Pack still looks strong going forward.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0, Last Week: 8)
Week 3: at TB
With Dennis Dixon out after tearing his lateral meniscus, Mike Tomlin is going to have to choose between Charlie Batch and Byron Leftwich to start against the surprising Buccaneers Sunday.
With the way that defense looked against Tennessee, though, I could be throwing passes for the Steelers and they'd still be able to win...probably.
4. Houston Texans (2-0, Last Week: 5)
Week 3: vs. DAL
In any other year, these Texans would be 0-2 after blowing a lead to Indy at home and rolling over and dying while Donovan McNabb and company ate their lunch in Washington Sunday.
Not these Texans, who will now turn their attention to happily delivering what could be a death blow to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday at Reliant Stadium.
5. Miami Dolphins (2-0, Last Week: 12)
Week 3: vs. NYJ
Nobody saw the Dolphins marching into the Metrodome and taking down the Vikings, and now they'll have to deal with a confident Jets team down in Miami next Sunday night.
The schedule-makers didn't do the Dolphins any favors, giving them their first two games on the road before their next six against the Jets, Patriots, Packers, Steelers, Bengals, and Ravens.
6. Indianapolis Colts (1-1, Last Week: 7)
Week 3: at DEN
Indianapolis rebounded in a big way, throttling the Giants 38-14 on Sunday night.
They ran the ball like we didn't know they could, with Joe Addai and Donald Brown (plus a sprinkle of Mike Hart) combining for 160 yards on the ground.
7. Chicago Bears (2-0, Last Week: 22)
Week 3: vs. GB
The Bears' offensive line might be in shambles, but when Jay Cutler actually has enough time to throw, this offense is extremely dangerous.
Cutler has thrown just one interception through the Dallas Cowboys jersey
first two games, combined with 649 yards and five touochdowns.
8. Baltimore Ravens (1-1, Last Week: 4)
Week 3: vs. CLE
Joe Flacco had a day to forget in the loss to the Bengals, going 17-39 for 154 yards with a touchdown and four interceptions.
However, a home game against Cleveland may be just what the doctor ordered.
9. New York Jets (1-1, Last Week: 11)
Week 3: at MIA
Mark Sanchez went 21-30 for 220 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions against New England, setting career highs for both completions and touchdowns.
With the Jets defense looking great through the first two games, lots of the onus will be on the offense to deliver when they have to.
10. New England Patriots (1-1, Last Week: 3)
Week 3: vs. BUF
To quote Tom Brady, the Pats' offense "sucked" in the loss to the Jets.
The running back situation is a serious concern, as Kevin Faulk, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and Fred Taylor combined for just 52 yards on 20 carries.
11. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1, Last Week: 13)
Week 3: at JAX
Michael Vick once again looks like the most exciting player with football, but he seems destined to hit the bench after Andy Reid continues to insist that Kevin Kolb is the starter if healthy.
So, how long is Kolb's leash if Reid knows he has Vick primed and ready to go at any moment against the Jaguars?
12. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0, Last Week: 16)
Week 3: vs. SF
The Chiefs didn't score an offensive touchdown in the 16-14 win over the Browns, getting their only score on a Brandon Flowers fumble return.
If they manage to advance to 3-0 while dropping the 49ers to 0-3, we'll have to start seriously looking at this team.
13. Atlanta Falcons (1-1, Last Week: 19)
Week 3: at NO
Atlanta rebounded from a tough OT loss to the Steelers in a big way, trampling the hapless Cardinals 41-7 at home.
They and the Saints are likely the cream of the crop in the NFC South, and they'll face off Sunday in the Big Easy.
14. San Diego Chargers (1-1, Last Week: 18)
Week 3: at SEA
San Diego looked like the Chargers of old in crushing Jacksonville 38-13, and they once again appear to be the team to beat in the AFC West.
Mike Tolbert was stellar in relief of the injured Ryan Mathews, rushing 16 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns.
15. Minnesota Vikings (0-2, Last Week: 6)
Week 3: vs. DET
The Vikings' offense hasn't looked good so far, but they've gone against two solid defenses in New Orleans and Miami.
If they can't get over the Lions at home, then they should actually start to worry.
16. Cincinnati Bengals (1-1, Last Week: 15)
Week 3: at CAR
Cincinnati got an impressive 15-10 win over Chargers jersey
Baltimore, but you aren't going to win many games in which all your points come from field goals.
The defense forcing four turnovers certainly helped their cause.
17. Tennessee Titans (1-1, Last Week: 9)
Week 3: at NYG
Chris Johnson could find no running room against the stingy Steelers defense, picking up just 34 yards on 16 carries.
Have no fear, fantasy owners. He'll be going up against a Giants run defense that was gashed by the Colts this week.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 3: Denver Broncos' Demaryius Thomas Has Landed

Colts jersey
Plagued by foot injuries that kept him off the field during the preseason, the first receiver taken in the 2010 draft had an impressive pro debut pulling in eight catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Last season, Orton found a similarly built receiver (Brandon Marshall) over 100 times for ten scores. With a WR corps primarily of role players, the Broncos will give Thomas every opportunity to get on the field and establish himself as Orton’s new go-to receiver.
If his foot problems are behind him, and they appear to be, Thomas should be nfl jerseys
a solid WR3 with tremendous upside as he develops a rapport with Orton.
Snelling will no doubt be the hot waiver pickup this week after ably filling in for Michael Turner. But all reports indicate that the Burner will be back next week so don’t expect to get immediate production with this add.
However, he is a crucial handcuff for all Turner owners and could be a great stash if you have the bench space to hold onto him in case Turner’s injury turns out to be less “mild” than reported.
After spending all offseason as the forgotten man in Buffalo, Marshawn Lynch got the start against Green Bay and tallied 17 carries (compared to just one for CJ Spiller and nine for Fred Jackson). Is Marshawn now the clear starting back for the Bills?
Two games, two Ryan Mathews fumbles and an ankle injury this week for good measure. Tolbert got the work this week in the Chargers crushing defeat of the Jaguars, picking up 82 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.
Don’t get too excited on this one since the Chargers are clearly heavily invested in Mathews. Two points worth noting. We now have evidence that Tolbert can produce when given an opportunity and he was the Chargers go to guy with a lead and Mathews out, not Darren Sproles.
After Michael Turner left with a groin injury, Snelling ran over the Cardinals defence in a home win. He racked up 129 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries and pitched in on the receiving end as well with five receptions for 57 yards and a score.
The Falcons have indicated that Turner could have went back inMinnesota Vikings jersey
but his services weren’t required in a blowout win over the Cardinals. Nonetheless, giddy up to the waiver wire to see if Snelling is available since there is mounting evidence that Turner cannot stay healthy.
Houston head coach Gary Kubiak seems like a perfectly smart coach and the Texans have won twice to open the season. So, if you think Kubiak has a sound offensive mind then it’s likely you’ll agree that he’s going to get Walter even more involved since he’s caught all 13 passes thrown his way this year for 173 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Looks like the whole Jacoby Jones vs. Walter preseason debate was a waste of time since there are plenty of touches to go around in Houston with tight end Owen Daniels AWOL, at least for the early part of 2010.
Meet Denver’s new number one wide receiver. Although Eddie Royal has been solid over the Broncos first two games, he is clearly better suited to fulfilling the number two role with the 6’3”, 230 pound Thomas taking over for the departed Brandon Marshall in the team’s offence.
In his debut after missing Week 1 with a foot injury, Thomas was targeted nine times, catching eight passes for 97 yards and a touchdown against Seattle. He’s not starter worthy just yet but definitely worth grabbing on the waiver wire, if he’s available.
When backup tight end Tony Scheffler had seven targets in Week 1 to only two for Pettigrew, it seemed that Pettigrew’s recovery from a torn ACL suffered last season might relegate him to more of a blocking role at the position, at least for the early part of 2010.
However, he came back with a vengeance this week with seven receptions on eight targets for 108 yards. If wide receiver Nate Burleson’s ankle injury causes him to miss some time, Pettigrew will be in line for an increased workload in the coming weeks.
After suffering through a sophomore slump in 2009, Keller is Indianapolis Colts jersey
getting more opportunities this year and in Week 2, he took advantage of it. Against the Patriots, Keller caught seven of nine targets for a cool 115 yards and a score.
He shaped up as a marginal backup at tight end entering the season but now look like a quality backup with upside, especially in dynasty leagues.

2010 Fantasy Football Week 3 Rankings: Quarterbacks

Colts jersey
We’re entering the third week of the NFL regular season, and this is an important one for all fantasy football teams. Why? Because in Week 4 the bye weeks begin, meaning that Week 3 is the last time until Week 11 that a full schedule of games will be played. It is also important because in head-to-head leagues you now begin to cheap nfl jerseys
see the strong fantasy football teams emerge and the weaker ones fall back in the pack.

As for quarterbacks, it’s equally important. New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez had a disastrous performance against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, however, he responded with a three-touchdown game in a win over the New England Patriots last week. Which Sanchez are we going to see this week? Now is the time to find out in our Fantasy Football Week 3 Quarterback Rankings.
It shouldn’t be much of a challenge this week for San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers when he faces the Seattle Seahawks. Not only do the Seahawks rank 26th in the league against the pass but they gave up over 300 yards and two touchdowns last week to Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton. Rivers has also played quite well thus far, accumulating 632 passing yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions. He is coming off a big win over the Jacksonville Jaguars where he had 334 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Who Cowboys jersey
says he needs receiver Vincent Jackson to be successful? Rivers and the Chargers appear to be clicking on all cylinders in 2010.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has six touchdowns and no interceptions through the first two weeks of the season. This week he and the Colts are playing at the Denver Broncos, who rank in the lower half of the league in points allowed and will likely be without All-Pro defensive back Champ Bailey. Further than that, Manning absolutely owns the Broncos. In the last three meetings between the two teams, Manning has a combined 10 touchdowns with just three interceptions, leading Indianapolis to wins in all three games. When the teams met last year Manning threw for 220 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. Expect him to approach four touchdowns while significantly cutting down on his interception totals this time around. The defense was supposed to be a strength for the Buffalo Bills this season but so far that hasn’t been the case. After two games the Bills are 17th against the pass and 22nd in the league in points allowed. At the same time, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
looking like his old self with five touchdowns and just two picks in the first two games. Plus, the Patriots are at home this week and in the last three home games against Buffalo, Brady has thrown eight touchdowns with just two interceptions. He would be projected for more points in Week 3 if we didn’t think an early lead would cause the Patriots to run the ball more than Brady would like to.
Point Projection: 20 points

Jackson falls by West-side; Ump's decision to start game uses up hot starting pitcher

Colts jersey
Umpire Joe West already has cost the White Sox fines this season, but on Friday night, the feeling was that West, the crew chief for the start of the series with the Royals, may have cost them even more.
Despite bad weather projected in the Kansas City nfl jersey
area throughout the evening, West decided to start the game between the Sox and Royals. It lasted a total of five hitters before it was first delayed, then eventually postponed.
That left the Sox angry, as well as scrambling with how to handle tonight's traditional doubleheader, which will start at 6:10. Because of Fox's exclusive TV rights, a day-night doubleheader was ruled out.
How did it affect the Sox specifically? Edwin Jackson, arguably the Sox' hottest starting pitcher, threw seven pitches, on top of the usual pregame warm-up, which basically disqualifies him from coming back tonight and pitching.
Freddy Garcia will start Game 1, but the Sox were still trying to determine a Game 2 starter late Friday. It will be either a roster move or a bullpen game, with Tony Pena the likely candidate.
Either way, Jackson becomes a non-factor for almost a week and a half from when he pitched last until when he takes the mound again. And there's more strain on a bullpen which already is putting in enough overtime lately.
The real kicker is that after starting Game 1 at 6:10 and then Game 2 30 minutes after Game 1 ends, the Sox have to come back Sunday against Zack Greinke. First pitch is 1:10 p.m.
Thanks to the Minnesota Twins winning Friday night -- a laugher over a Los Angeles Angels team that looks like it's ready for the offseason -- the Sox will start the three-game marathon 4? games behind in the American League Central race.
''I'm sure it's cheated everyone before,'' Jackson said of the weather. ''Unless you really just started Dallas Cowboys jersey
playing baseball, I'm sure you've been cheated by the weather before.''
Then came the million-dollar question -- or at least the one that could have led to a nice fine depending on how Jackson answered it: Did he feel that West's judgment cheated him?
''That's his decision,'' Jackson said. ''No reason to get mad over something you can't control. Not to make a decision on if we start a game or not -- that's his decision, that's his call. Ask him how he feels about it.''
Jackson said he briefly discussed starting one of the games tonight, but that idea was quickly vetoed by the coaching staff and manager Ozzie Guillen.
''When you're in a situation like that, you're pretty much fighting a losing battle,'' Jackson said. ''I don't think there are too many managers in the league that will let a pitcher warm up, start a game and then come back and finish it [the next day]. I don't think it's an option.''
Friday's decision-making was poor at best. For conspiracy theorists, it could go even a step further. West was responsible for the Mark Buehrle ''balk game'' on May 26 in Cleveland, when Buehrle was called for a balk by West, leading to Guillen being ejected when he argued about it. An inning later, West called Buehrle for a second balk, leading to Buehrle's ejection.
Guillen and Buehrle made it very clear how they felt about West after that game, with Guillen calling him a ''f---ing a--hole'' and Buehrle suggesting West was trying to draw attention to himself to promote his country-music album. Buehrle and Guillen were fined after the episode, as was West.
The Sox start the series with the Royals in a good place, having beaten them three straight games to take a 7-5 lead in the season series.

Yanking Harden was the sensible move

Colts jersey
Ron Washington often talks about managing from his gut. Monday night, he did a pretty fine job of managing with his head, too.
The most important trait a manager must show during games isnfl throwback jerseys
the ability to separate the situation at hand from the emotion of the moment. By pulling Rich Harden in the seventh inning of a no-hit bid against Minnesota, that's exactly what Washington displayed.
Oh, it would have been really cool to see how far Harden could have taken the no-hitter. But it would have been counterproductive.
Harden had 111 pitches at the time Washington pulled him for Matt Minnesota Vikings jersey
Harrison with two outs in the seventh. Harden was on pace for 150 pitches in nine innings. There was no way the Rangers would let any of their pitchers throw 150 pitches in a game, much less one with a history of arm problems who hours earlier had been activated from the DL.
Once Washington determined that, nothing else about the no-hit bid mattered.
It was all about winning the game and maybe, just maybe, making sure that Harden Indianapolis Colts jersey
didn't hurt himself in the process. A healthy, confident and effective Harden in the final five weeks of the season just might make the Rangers as dangerous a team as there is in the American League.

Painful loss for Sox

Colts jersey
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Red Sox fell even further behind the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays last night.
The Yankees defeated the White Sox, 12-9, while the football jerseys
Red Sox, who took a 2-1 lead over the Rays in the eighth inning, were taken into extra innings.
Boston ultimately fell, 3-2, when Dan Johnson ripped a Scott Atchison offering over the right-field fence in the bottom of the 10th.
The Red Sox broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth when catcher Victor Martinez hit a solo home run into the right field seats off relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit.
Martinez was 4-for-5 after a 10th-inning single and he has three homers in the first two games of the series.
David Ortiz followed with a single and then Adrian Beltre reached safely on a broken-bat infield single. Both runners moved up a base, but Benoit escaped further damage when he got Mike Lowell to pop out.
Clay Buccholz, looking for his 16th victory, was masterful for the Red Sox.
But the right-hander could not hold the 2-1 lead. The leadoff batter in the bottom of Cowboys jersey
the eighth, BJ Upton, launched a solo home run.
Boston opened the scoring in the fourth off Matt Garza.
Martinez singled to right center and Ortiz hammered a long double, putting runners on second and third with no out. Beltre hit a sacrifice fly to left to easily plate Martinez with the first run.
Tampa Bay tied it in the seventh when Carlos Pena, who was on first, scampered to third on a throwing error by Buchholz.
Matt Joyce then lofted a sacrifice fly which J.D. Drew caught in right field. Pena easily trotted home with the tying run.
The Red Sox fell 5 1/2 games out of first place.
Okajima off the DL
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- The Red Sox have activated reliever Hideki Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
Okajima from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-hander Michael Bowden to Triple-A Pawtucket.
The moves were announced before Boston's game last night at Tampa Bay.
Okajima had been out since Aug. 6 due to a strained right hamstring.

Steelers release QB Leftwich, plan to re-sign him next week

Dallas Cowboys jersey
In a surprising move on Saturday, the Steelers announced they released backup QB Byron Leftwich(notes) and activated DE Steve McLendon(notes) from the practice squad.
According to the Steelers' Twitter account, "SteelersDigest," Leftwich football jerseys
should be re-signed next week and this move was "done for D-line depth."
Leftwich (knee) participated fully in practice on Friday but was still slated to back up starting QB Dennis Dixon(notes). QB Ben Roethlisberger(notes) will return for Week Six when the Steelers play the Browns.
The way we see it
The Steelers' defensive line issue is that they are without starting NT Casey Hampton(notes) for the Week Two game against the Titans, but this move more importantly means that head coach Mike Tomlin trusts Charlie Batch(notes) as the backup to Dixon. Batch, a 13-year veteran, has 50 career starts under his belt, but just four with the Steelers since 2003. It's possible that Leftwich could start in Week Three after returning to practice this week, but the Steelers wanted his roster spot for D-line depth for Sunday's game. Of course, the Steelers are gambling that Chargers jersey
another team in need of a quarterback won't swoop in and make Leftwich an attractive offer, unless they've privately come to an agreement with the veteran that he won't depart.
Brian Westbrook(notes) is expected to make his debut for the Sa n Francisco 49ers on Monday night in the team’s home opener against the New Orleans Saints.
The veteran running back, signed in August, suited up last Sunday in Seattle but did not appear in the game. That won’t happen again.
“I was prepared to play, just didn't get any opportunities," Westbrook told David White of the San Francisco Chrinicle. "It's been a while since I haven't played in a game, man. The situation for me is, whenever my number's called, be prepared and ready to play."
Offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye has called Westbrook the backup for Frank Gore(notes). It would seem with his abilities in the open field and as a receiver he could also provide a change-of-pace for the offense. But Westbrook needs to continue to master the offense so he is ready when his opportunity comes.
"I'm getting better at it every day," Westbrook said. "I think I have a good Bears jersey
grasp of it, but you don't really know until you get out there."

Bell enjoys flying around Dolphins’ new ‘D’

Dallas Cowboys jersey
Dolphins SS Yeremiah Bell(notes) had 43 career starts under his belt heading into the 2010 season, his seventh. That's almost twice as many as the rest of the Dolphins' starting secondary combined. And new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and the rest of the Dolphins' organization are counting on this nfl jerseys
young, inexperienced secondary to improve a pass defense that ranked 24th in the NFL last season.
Bell and company found success right away in Week One, holding the Bills to 116 passing yards. Nolan's schemes ask for a more attacking defense, allowing players in the secondary to fly around the field.
"It's excellent," Bell told PFW about being able to move around more on defense. "It takes me back to my college days when I got to roam around a bit. The more you get to move around and the more looks you can give a quarterback, the more you can disrupt what they're seeing."
Bell explained that the new defense allows players to be more offensive. Indianapolis Colts jersey
"We want to make teams adjust to us and not always be on our heels, having to adjust to what they do," he said.
Starting alongside Bell in the secondary are second-year CB Vontae Davis(notes) (nine career starts heading into 2010), fifth-year veteran CB Jason Allen(notes) (12 starts) and second-year FS Chris Clemons (two starts). The following quarterbacks will test the inexperienced group this season: Brett Favre(notes), Tom Brady(notes) (twice), Carson Palmer(notes), Jay Cutler(notes) and Ben Roethlisberger(notes).
"We know that we have challenges coming up, but we know what we have to do to be successful as a team. It's my job to make sure those young guys are staying on their toes and getting their study time," said Bell.
One of the young guys who stepped up in Week One was Clemons, who recorded two tackles for loss. "Chris Clemons is going to be a good player. From Day One, he was asking all the right questions, watching every film. He wanted to get it right. He has done a good job of making sure that he has the sideline locked up," said Bell.
The young defense will have its hands full, playing six 2009 playoff Dallas Cowboys jersey
teams in its next seven games, with the Steelers being the one exception. But Bell has confidence in his unit. "If those guys couldn't play, they wouldn't be out there."

Dorsey, ‘D’ key to Chiefs’ resurgence

Dallas Cowboys jersey
After sputtering to a 4-12 record last season, the Chiefs looked like a different team in Week One, upending the favored Chargers in raucous Arrowhead Stadium. The biggest difference from a year ago: the defense, which showed increased intensity and aggressiveness under new coordinator Romeo cheap nfl jerseys
Crennel. Most notably, we hear DE Glenn Dorsey(notes) played the best game of his pro career, locking down his side of the field and pressuring the quarterback. One of the league's worst run defenses in 2009, allowing 156.5 yards per game, the Chiefs clamped down on San Diego, giving up 109 yards on the ground and just 3.8 per carry. Much of that was due to Dorsey's dominance up front, something that head coach Todd Haley took note of. "At every stage he has been clearly ahead of where he was (last season)," Haley said. "I think Glenn Dorsey played the best that I have seen him play since I have been here."
The Pittsburgh Steelers cut veteran quarterback Byron Leftwich(notes) today and promoted defensive end Steve McClendon from the practice squad.
Leftwich was expected to start during Ben Roethlisberger's(notes) four-game Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
suspension, but sprained his medial collateral ligament during the preseason.
As a vested veteran, Leftwich can be re-signed without going through the waiver system. He's likely to eventually be re-signed by Pittsburgh, according to the team's official website.
Nose guard Casey Hampton(notes) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans due to an injured hamstring.
McClendon is a 6-foot-4, 310-pounder who was cut during the final major roster cutdown and placed on the practice squad.
In a touch of strategy and gamesmanship, the New England Patriots have signed former New York Jets wide receiver and running back Danny Woodhead(notes), according to the Boston Herald.
Woodhead was with the Jets last week until they signed wide receiver David Clowney(notes).
Woodhead could provide some inside information about the Jets to the Patriots' coaching staff.
He's also a solid, albeit diminutive football player who caught eight passes Minnesota Vikings jersey
for 87 yards and rushed for 64 yards on 15 carries.
The Jets signed quarterback Kevin O'Connell(notes) last year before playing the Patriots last year and even installed him as a game captain.
Now, the Patriots have answered in a similar fashion by adding Woodhead.

Ibra scores twice as Milan beats Auxerre 2-0

Indianapolis Colts jersey
MILAN (AP)—Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice on his Champions League debut for AC Milan to give the seven-time winner a 2-0 victory over Auxerre in their opening group game.
It was Milan’s first win at home in Europe in seven football jersey
games, a run that stretches back to a 1-0 victory over Braga in the UEFA Cup on November 2008.
After Milan struggled to score in the first half, the Swede broke the deadlock in the 66th after linking up with Kevin-Prince Boateng and Ronaldinho. His second came just three minutes later, and completed a slick counter-attacking move that began with Robinho carrying the ball from the defense and culminated in Ibrahimovic sweeping home Ronaldinho’s deft pass.
“‘Ibra’ had a good game tonight,” Milan coach Massimo Allegri said. “He was better in the second half than the first, especially the way he took his two chances. He is a very important player for us—for his technique and the way he leads the attack.”
Before then, Auxerre had the better of the chances. Valter Birsa and Steeven Langil had early shots and Adama Coulibaly headed against the bar.
“We knew before the match that Milan had the better players,” Auxerre coach Jean Fernandez said. “We have far less experience of the Champions League than Milan. You could see that after an hour. When their players had chances to score, they had the experience to take them.”
Milan had to wait until the 20th minute for its first chance, when Andrea Pirlo curled in a free kick that goalkeeper Olivier Sorin punched clear.
Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini went off early in the first half with an injury to Minnesota Vikings jersey
his left knee. That meant Boateng was able to come on and add greater energy and drive to Milan’s midfield.
“Ambrosini has a traumatic injury and we will have to assess it,” Allegri said. “Boateng is an important player for us because he is strong, has good technique, is young and is different to the rest of our midfield.”
Auxerre defender Coulibaly then sent a powerful header against the bar from a corner by Benoit Pedretti and the half came to a close with another chance for the French side. Ireneusz Jelen and Dennis Oliech led a break out from defense, but once in the area Langil shot high and wide.
“I wasn’t scared as such, but Auxerre had a great game.” Allegri said. “The players used space well, were compact and went close on the counterattack. After the goals, though, the space opened up and it allowed us to play.”
Soon after the break, Milan went close when Andrea Pirlo hit a low shot narrowly wide from the edge of the area, leaving the hosts to wait till midway through the second half to open the scoring.
Ronaldinho crossed from the left, Boateng flicked the ball further into the area and Ibrahimovic sneaked ahead of Stephane Grichting to score his first goal in Milan colors.
He doubled his tally in the 69th after Robinho broke from defense and found Indianapolis Colts jersey
Ronaldinho, who drew in the Auxerre defenders and passed to Ibrahimovic, and the Swede’s low shot went inside the far post.
“For an hour, Auxerre played well,” Fernandez said. “We stayed compact and didn’t leave space for Milan to play in. After an hour, the players became tired and it opened up spaces for them to attack and take advantage.”

PREVIEW-Soccer-Bayern see league turnaround after Roma win

Indianapolis Colts jersey
BERLIN, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich are confident their 2-0 Champions League Group E opening win against AS Roma on Wednesday will spark a return of form in the Bundesliga with the champions languishing in 11th place after three matches.
The Bavarians, who host Cologne on nfl jersey
Saturday, have not scored in the league since their opening match on Aug. 20 in their 2-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg, and have only got four points from three games.
“Now it is extremely crucial to look at the Bundesliga and take it game by game,” said midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. “We have to make sure we get the three points (against Cologne) and win, win, win.
“We can play much better than we have done until now.”
Bayern have been lacking some spark without injured Dutch winger Arjen Robben who aggravated a muscle injury during the World Cup and will be out for at least another month.
But Franck Ribery, who was suspended for the Champions League game, will return against confident Cologne, who picked up their first win of the season against St Pauli last week.
“Of course this victory over Roma gives us a boost for the Bundesliga,” said scorer Thomas Mueller, who netted Bayern’s first goal and ended a run of four Bundesliga and Germany games without a goal.
“I had not scored in four games if you count the Germany internationals but I never gave up,” said the joint top scorer at the World Cup.
PODOLSKI RETURN
Cologne will be hoping to counter-attack better than Roma, who defended in numbers and managed to carve Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
out only one real scoring chance throughout the game.
“Obviously we cannot play attacking football against Bayern and we will have to be patient,” said former Bayern striker and Cologne captain Lukas Podolski. “We have to be compact at the back and be effective with our counter-attacks.”
Schalke 04, last season’s runners-up, are desperate for their first points when they host rivals Borussia Dortmund, after losing all of their league matches so far as well as their Champions League opener against Olympique Lyon.
Coach Felix Magath is confident his team, which includes former Real Madrid strikers Raul and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, will gradually peak. But his players know only a win will do in the highly anticipated Ruhr valley derby.
“We are running out of time,” warned Ivan Rakitic. “We have to start picking up Indianapolis Colts jersey
points and need some good result and there is no better opportunity than against Borussia on Sunday.”
In another fierce local rivalry, promoted St Pauli host Hamburg SV, with police taking extra measures to avoid any crowd trouble.

Fans 'must be patient,' pleads Bayern boss

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
MUNICH, Germany (AFP) - Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal asked for the German giants' fans to show a little more patience after they laboured to a 2-0 win over resilient Roma in the Champions League.
With the 66,000-strong crowd at Munich's Allianz Arena growing ever restless, Wednesday's Group E match was heading for a 0-0 draw until Germany's Thomas Mueller lit up cheap nfl jerseys
a dull night by curling home a fine shot on 79 minutes.
Roma's resolve broken, Bayern raised the tempo in the closing stages as the Italians tired and second-half substitute Miroslav Klose latched onto a long free-kick to claim his side's second and seal the win.
Having reached last season's final before losing 2-0 to Inter Milan, Bayern have failed to impress in the Bundesliga so far this season, but van Gaal asked their fans to give his side time to prove themselves.
"I think we played very well, given the circumstances," said van Gaal after a few disgruntled whistles echoed around the stadium.
"They just defended, which always makes it hard. After 70 minutes, Rome couldn't run any more.
"The fans must understand that we needed time to break them down. We created two fine goals and could have scored more, so that is fantastic.
"I think it is always hard to play against a side who pack 10 men behind the ball. It took time to break them down, but we did that.
"You could see they were tired after 70 minutes and then we had Indianapolis Colts jersey
our chances to score. I told the players to keep playing the way they were and the chances would come.
"At the end, Roma didn't do much and that is down to us as we kept up our discipline."
Roma coach Claudio Ranieri, who led his team to second place in Serie A last season, said he was happy with his side's effort, but not the result.
"It was a bad start, but I was very happy with the team, I'm satisfied with the effort," he said.
"However, I'm not satisfied with the result, it maybe wasn't a fair reflection, because we also had many chances. They converted the ones they had.
"It's a shame (we conceded the first goal). Obviously they had increased the tempo, they had two shots from distance and then this great goal from Mueller.
"It's a shame because we were doing very well. (Marco) Borriello Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
had already gone close to scoring in the first half."
In the next round of matches on September 28, Bayern are at Basel while Roma host Romanian side CFR Cluj

'Men against boys,' says Ajax boss as Mourinho celebrates

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
MADRID (AFP) - Ajax boss and former Tottenham coach Martin Jol admitted it was men against boys as Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid handed his Dutch youngsters a 2-0 Champions League defeat.
Mourinho, who won the Champions League with football jersey
Inter Milan at the Bernabeu in May, saw an own-goal from 21-year-old defender Vurnon Anita and a strike from Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain settle the Group G opener.
But Jol believes that Real's greater experience proved crucial.
"It was a match between a team of young players against experienced, international players," said Jol.
"They know how to play the ball and didn't allow us to develop our game. We need to have the ball. They had 30 shots at goal, they clearly dominated the game."
The victory gave Real three points in a group which also includes fellow former champions AC Milan and another clean sheet.
Real have yet to concede a goal in their three games under Mourinho, who Minnesota Vikings jersey
believes the Spanish giants are ready to win the Champions League for the first time since 2002 despite failing to get past the last 16 for the past six seasons.
Madrid should have won by more and Mourinho said it was just a matter of time before someone will be routed by his Real side.
"We played very well, pressured well and didn't let them play how they like to," said Mourinho. "One day some poor team is going to pay for all these chances that we are missing."
The Portuguese said his team was just as young as Ajax and dismissed Jol's belief that greater experience was the key.
"No, it was children against children," he said. "Real Madrid is a team of Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
children, not counting the likes of Carvalho, Casillas and Xabi Alonso.
"They are all 21, 22, 23… we played well, we pressed and didn't allow Ajax to play. This team is a work in progress.

Jets' Revis, Pats' Moss ready for Sunday

Steelers jersey
As if Jets-Patriots needed any extra juice, New York cornerback Darrelle Revis and New England receiver Randy Moss are ready to take their rivalry to the field again.
''It ought to be a great one,'' Jets coach Rex Ryan said football jersey
Wednesday.
That's because the two stars have taken playful shots at each other during the last several months.
To review: Revis was playing a word-association game on the NFL Network in January when he was asked about Terrell Owens.
''Slouch,'' Revis responded.
Deion Sanders, conducting the interview, then said: ''Randy Moss.''
Revis responded: ''Probably say slouch, too.''
Well, Moss playfully fired back during an interview with ESPN on Tuesday, saying, ''We're coming to the Meadowlands on Sunday, man, so you got 60 minutes of this 'slouch.' I don't really get into the trash talking, but if what he called me was a 'slouch,' then I guess the 'slouch' will be there to see you on Sunday.''
Revis was amused when told of Moss' comments.
''He probably said it with a laugh, but it's been in his mind for the whole offseason and he's been working hard for this day to come,'' Revis said. ''I'm expecting him to play his A-plus game. I don't expect anything less when I do play against Randy.''
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady pays no attention to any of the trash talk.
''We're all called a lot of names by a lot of Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
people,'' Brady said. ''It's hard for me to think that you get so worked up over that. Revis is a good player, but we play a lot of good players, too. The Jets have a lot of good players. We don't prepare for one player. We prepare for the whole defense.''
The back-and-forth between Revis and Moss started last season when the New England star was held to four catches for 24 yards in the Jets' 16-9 win. Moss refused to give Revis total credit, saying he had help in the coverage, and that ticked off the cornerback.
''When I played him the first game last year, I called him a slouch for a reason,'' Revis said. ''Because that game, I felt like he played like a slouch. That's the simple point. But, I still have respect for him and I know he's one of the best there is.''
When reminded that he called Moss a ''slouch'' a few months later, Revis shrugged.
''If I said it in January or whenever I said it, you guys know I said it,'' he said. ''Like I said, that's how I felt at that particular time.''
In their second meeting, Moss had five catches for 34 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown receptions, as New England cruised to a 31-14 win.
''They tried to come after me in the second game and he was more prepared for me in the second game, too,'' Revis said. ''But they tried to get me on some trick plays.''
But, was Moss a slouch in that one, too?
''No,'' Revis said, smiling, ''he wasn't a slouch in the second game.''
Revis said neither player talks much trash on the field, but he fully expects Moss to have revenge on his mind when the teams play Sunday.
''I look forward to the matchup,'' Moss said. ''I have a lot of respect for Darrelle Revis. He's a young player who definitely matured faster than most young players do. I'll get the best from him. He'll get the best from me. The only thing I can say is, collectively as a team, hopefully we get the best of the Jets.''
Ryan is just glad he'll have Revis, who held out of training camp in a contract dispute, on the field against Moss.
''There's only one corner in the league that would dare to go against Randy Moss one-on-one, and that's Darrelle,'' Ryan said. ''That's the only one that should try to compete.''
Notes: Jets LB Calvin Pace will miss the game because of a broken right foot, but hopes to get out of his walking boot Thursday. He's still unsure when he'll return. ... S Brodney Pool was limited with a sprained ankle. ... Ryan said the Jets chose to bring back WR David Clowney instead of Minnesota Vikings jersey
Laveranues Coles to add a speedy vertical threat to the passing game. ... Ryan confirmed the team brought LB-DE Adalius Thomas in for a physical, but the team has no immediate plans to sign him.

Chargers put long snapper Binn on injured reserve

Steelers jersey
Long snapper David Binn, who accurately delivered the ball to San Diego Chargers punters and kickers since 1994, was placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of a hamstring injury, meaning his season is over.
The popular 17-year veteran was the only player left from the Chargers' 1994 Super Bowl team, and the last player left from Bobby Beathard's tenure as general manager.
Binn was hurt in Monday night's 21-14 loss to Kansas City. nfl jersey
It was his team-record 179th straight game played.
The low-key Binn was so reliable that he was almost taken for granted. He was recently selected a team captain for the first time.
''It's tough for me and I know if it's tough for me it's tough for him,'' coach Norv Turner said. ''That's a great honor, and it might be a first for me through all the years, being picked as a captain. It just shows how much our guys care about him and the respect they have for him.''
Turner said he didn't want to put Binn on IR, but he wouldn't have been able to play for six to eight weeks. ''And once he could play, he's still at the risk of reinjuring it,'' the coach said.
''I know there's some people who say, 'Well, he's a deep snapper,' but it's as pressure-packed a job as you can have and he's been almost perfect for a long time.''
Binn wasn't available for comment.
''I feel for him on a personal level and a professional level,'' kicker Nate Kaeding said. ''We all put a lot into preparing for a season, and then to have it taken away from him on a freak injury like that, it's tough. It's tough for him to deal with, regardless of Dallas Cowboys jersey
how many seasons you've played. You never take the opportunity to get another shot at this for granted. I know he's pretty beat up about it.''
Binn played in a team-record 256 of the last 257 regular-season games and all 12 of San Diego's playoff games dating to 1994. He only missed one game in the previous 16 seasons, due to a shoulder injury in 1998.
The Chargers signed James Dearth to replace Binn.
Kaeding said Binn was ''amazingly consistent'' at a job that requires taking a pounding.
''Dave's whatever, 230, 240 pounds, and you've got these 300-pounders lining up over top of him. It's really a credit to how fit he is as an athlete, to be able to go that many years without getting hurt, either, but you're out there moving your body around in weird ways, and it's gonna get you eventually.''
Mike Scifres, the punter and holder for placements, said every snap by Binn ''was absolutely perfect. Every field goal snap, there was never a question that I'd have to spin the laces. There was never a punt snap I'd have to jump for, and I knew it wasn't going to hit the ground. Going on the field with Dave snapping, I was just real comfortable, because I knew every time the snap was gonna be perfect.''
Scifres said that Binn would know if his snap was even a little off.
''If I had to spin laces at all, we're walking off the field to the Minnesota Vikings jersey
sideline and Dave's looking at me like, 'Well, you had to turn it a quarter to the left or to the right,' and I'm looking at him like, 'How in the world did you know that?' It just proves how good he is and how serious he took what he did. That's why he's been there for so long, that's why he's been so good at it. He's still going to be around. We're going to have a shoulder to turn to and tug on during games.''

NFL talks to female reporter about Jets behavior

Indianapolis Colts jersey

NEW YORK (AP)—After a summer in the spotlight, the Jets are under scrutiny again.
The “Hard Knocks” stars are being investigated by the NFL football jersey
for the way Jets players and coaches carried on when they were visited by a female reporter from a Mexican TV network during the team’s practice Saturday.
Ines Sainz, of Mexico’s TV Azteca, said on her Twitter account Saturday that she felt “very uncomfortable!” in the Jets’ locker room, where a few players let loose with some “Whooo-weee!” catcalls as she waited with two male co-workers to interview quarterback Mark Sanchez(notes), who is of Mexican descent.
“Of course you feel it when you are being stared at and when you are being spoken of in a certain way,” Sainz told The Associated Press. “I opted to ignore it … I tried to not even pay attention.”
She tweeted in Spanish on Saturday night that she tried “not to look anywhere!!”
“It was an uncomfortable moment because you are in the team’s dressing room and they are obviously changing clothes, showering—doing what they do every day in the locker room,” Sainz said to the AP. “So being a woman, obviously it was a bit uncomfortable.”
Sainz also thanked supporters Monday on Twitter for their concern.
“I already spoke to the NFL and it will be up to them to decide whether or not there will be consequences!!” she tweeted.
Sainz was at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Monday night and had a seat in the press box for New York’s 10-9 season-opening loss to Baltimore. She was not seen in the Jets’ locker room after the game.
“No. 1, we never want anyone around our team to be uncomfortable,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said after the game. “We’re cooperating with the NFL and we’ll get down to it, so I don’t really want to comment more than that on it.”
During defensive back drills on Saturday, Jets assistant coach Dennis Thurman seemed to deliberately throw to players near where Sainz was standing on the sideline. Even linebacker Jason Taylor(notes), who normally doesn’t participate in those position drills, went out for a pass.
At the end of the drill, Ryan threw a pass to Thurman, who caught it, ran toward Sainz and appeared to speak to her very briefly.
“Obviously, we know about it and I understand the league is looking into it,” Taylor said, “and we’ll wait and see what they talk about.”
When asked if he thought what occurred in the locker room was offensive, Taylor said: “We’ll let the league figure this out and talk about it later. I really can’t speak on it.”
The Association for Women in Sports Media said a board member Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
spoke to Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum on Sunday about the reports. Also, team owner Woody Johnson spoke to Sainz, telling her “he expects all members of the Jets organization to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times,” Jets spokesman Bruce Speight said.
Sainz said she talked Sunday with NFL officials.
“I don’t want to make it a bigger deal,” she said. “I have confidence in the NFL and the Jets’ management and I know that this will serve as a precedent so that this does not happen to another women.”
TV Azteca promotes Sainz both as a journalist and as a model. The network’s website includes photo collections of Sainz and has an article in its “Bad Girls” section headlined, “Inez Sainz, the perfect woman.” The article describes her as intelligent and having a good sense of humor, and is accompanied by a photo of her in a skimpy bikini.
She has covered the NFL before, including at least a few Super Bowls. At a media event before the Super Bowl in 2009, she measured the bicep of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Steve Breaston(notes). The year before, she asked Patriots quarterback Tom Brady(notes) what it would take for New England to beat the Jets. The Pats actually were playing the Giants.
New York has been in the headlines all summer, from Ryan making guarantees about going to the Super Bowl to the team bringing in big-name players such as LaDainian Tomlinson(notes), Jason Taylor, Santonio Holmes(notes) and Antonio Cromartie(notes).
The story lines made the Jets a popular pick by HBO and NFL Films to be featured on their “Hard Knocks” series, which followed the team throughout training camp, offering an uncensored look at the coaches and players. Ryan was widely criticized by some fans and media, including former coach Tony Dungy, for what they considered an excessive use of expletives. The final episode aired last Wednesday, so NFL Films cameras were not at the practice Saturday.
AWSM and the Jets were working to schedule an educational and awareness session with the team, Speight said.
He addressed the situation during the team meeting Sunday night. The team also said it would work with the league to gather facts and “take any appropriate steps necessary to maintain a respectful environment for the media.”
AWSM said in a statement Sunday night that the NFL and the Jets were “responsive to our concerns” and that it would continue to monitor the situation.
“We are awaiting the results of Indianapolis Colts jersey
the investigation,” the statement said, “and further action from the NFL and Jets.”

DT Jenkins hurts left knee, status uncertain

Indianapolis Colts jersey

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—The New York Jets are hoping they won’t be without their big man in the middle again.
Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins(notes) injured his left knee—the nfl jersey
same one he hurt last season—in the first quarter of the Jets’ 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. He didn’t return to the game.
“I have no idea what the extent of the injury is,” coach Rex Ryan said. “I’m hopeful that it’s not serious, but clearly it was serious enough for him to not return to the game. We’re definitely hoping that he’s going to be OK.”
Jenkins was caught in a pileup on a tackle of Ravens fullback Le’Ron McClain(notes) and immediately clutched his left knee. He remained on the turf for a few minutes, then got up and limped to the sideline.
“Hopefully we’ll hear some good news (Tuesday),” Ryan said.
The 10-year veteran tore the anterior Dallas Cowboys jersey
cruciate ligament in his left knee midway through last season and worked hard to get back on the field. Monday night’s game against Baltimore was his first in the regular season since that injury.
“Obviously, we’re alarmed by it, disappointed,” linebacker Jason Taylor(notes) said. “We don’t know the nature of it. This team is a very close team, and anytime a player goes down, you feel for him but you realize you need to move on and the next person needs to step up. Those are big shoes to fill.”
The Jets are used to having to fill Jenkins’ shoes after he went down against Buffalo last October. Sione Pouha(notes) stepped in and was solid in Jenkins’ place, but Ryan was excited about having the big nose tackle back to anchor his defensive line.
Jenkins used the time rehabilitating to examine his priorities and even contemplated retirement. But, Jenkins rediscovered his love for football, and won a weight-loss competition among himself, Ryan and right tackle Damien Woody(notes). He was eased back into the lineup in Indianapolis Colts jersey
the preseason, and said he felt 100 percent entering the regular season.
Jenkins, who’s in his third season with the Jets, also tore the ACL in his right knee in 2005 while with Carolina.

Chiefs’ CB Flowers limps off field

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—The Kansas City Chiefs regained one player and lost another in the same series of downs Monday night.
Cornerback Brandon Flowers(notes), who nfl jerseys
walked off the field on what appeared to be wobbly legs early in the third quarter of the Chiefs’ game with San Diego, returned in the same series when defensive end Tyson Jackson(notes) left the game favoring his left knee.
Jackson had his arm around a trainer as Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
he was helped back to the bench.
Just after Jackson left the game, Philip Rivers(notes) Minnesota Vikings jersey
connected with Legedu Naanee(notes) on a 59-yard TD pass to cut Kansas City’s lead to 21-14.

Former NHL defenceman Jason Smith arrested in Calgary for domestic assault

Indianapolis Colts jersey

CALGARY - Former National Hockey League defenceman Jason Smith is facing criminal charges after being arrested for domestic assault.
Smith, 36, a former Edmonton Oilers captain for five cheap nfl jerseys
seasons who retired from the Ottawa Senators in 2009, is charged with two counts of assault and one count of unlawful confinement against his wife and teenage daughter.
Police were called to a southwest home at 8 p.m. on Aug. 10.
The family, who lives in Greely, Ontario, were spending the summer in Calgary.
Although the charges against the Calgarian are serious, Smith’s defence lawyer says they don’t reflect the reality of the incident.
“There’s another side to the story. A different version will surface when the charges are being read in court. People are quick to make judgments,” said lawyer Alain Hepner.
“I think that so many families have issues that the public is not concerned about and it’s sad that a high-profile person has to have his laundry aired in public.”
Police said little about the investigation as it moves to court Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
Sept. 17, but did reveal that celebrity suspects are not given special treatment.
“No one is immune. This would be like any other incident,” said Staff Sgt. Harv Davies.
“Based on the facts and evidence they would have gathered at the scene, charges were laid,” he said.
Smith was released on $1,000 bail and must refrain from drugs and alcohol, and weapons. He is not allowed near the family or their home.
Smith played in the NHL from 1993 to 2009.
He served as the Oilers captain from 2001 to 2007, tying Wayne Indianapolis Colts jersey
Gretzky as longest serving team leader.
In 2008, he signed a two-year contract with the Ottawa Senators worth $2.6 million US per season.
But he retired from the NHL in 2009.

Edmonton Oilers: 2010-11 preview

Indianapolis Colts jersey

Coach: Tom Renney
It wasn't supposed to end this way. The coaching transition from 68-year-old Pat Quinn to 55-year-old Tom Renney was expected to take longer and go a lot smoother. But the combination of locker room disharmony and way too many losses proved too much for even a nfl jersey
20-year NHL coach to survive.
Quinn's Edmonton Oilers were arguably the most disappointing team in the league last season, finishing with the NHL's worst record despite possessing more young talent than the Peace Corps. GM Steve Tambellini didn't give the old Coach a chance to stay, and for the second straight autumn the Oilers go into a new season with a new boss.
Quinn's comeback from retirement lasted only one season; the bad memories are likely to last a lifetime.
The only good to come out of the botched season was the first overall pick and junior sensation Taylor Hall(notes), who bears uncanny similarities in appearance and confidence to a young Mark Messier.
Now the Hall era has begun in Edmonton, but it's Renney's team.
The former Rangers' bench boss, who never got the credit he deserved in New York for helping to stabilize that team, ascended from his role as associate coach in Edmonton to replace Quinn.
It was all part of the plan, according to Tambellini.
"What plan?" asked Quinn, who was booted to an advisory role.
"It's not my decision," he told reporters at the time. "Is it a promotion? I'd say not. We went through some tough times, but I was looking forward to continuing to help to change the climate there and continue to help this organization go back to respectability in the sense of winning."
However clumsy the situation was handled, dropping Quinn was the right decision. The generation gap between Quinn and his players looked like the abyss in the second half of last season.
Renney, a new-age coaching pioneer heavy on technical instruction and communication, should relate better to the young players. And the regime change dovetails nicely with the arrival of Hall.
"I think I have the tools and I know I have confidence and drive," Hall says.
It's a good thing he feels that way because Hall is expected to restore the Oilers to glory. To help him, Tambellini undertook a thorough housecleaning over the summer.
A lot of young pretenders were dumped, including Ryan Potulny(notes), Marc Pouliot(notes), Patrick O'Sullivan(notes), Robert Nilsson(notes) and veteran captain Ethan Moreau(notes). Overpaid defenseman Sheldon Souray(notes) cleared waivers and the team was still shopping him as the season approached.
The Oilers will be a little less flashy and have a lot more bite this Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
season.
Besides combative defenseman Jim Vandermeer(notes), Tambellini brought in 6-5 defenseman Kurtis Foster(notes) as a free agent to replace Souray on the power play, and gritty fourth-line center Colin Fraser(notes) was obtained for a sixth-round pick from Chicago.
Given Shawn Horcoff's(notes) decline—his 36 points in 2009-10 were a five-season low—and the failure of Sam Gagner(notes) to build on his 49-point rookie season of 2007-08, the Oilers still don't have a first-line center. But they have a glorious candidate in 2008 first-rounder Jordan Eberle(notes), the Canadian Junior Player of the Year and an offensive dynamo capable of helping Hall lead an Oilers' resurgence.
Five years after he was drafted sixth overall, Gilbert Brule(notes) had a breakthrough 2009-10 season with 37 points in 65 games and could become an abrasive two-way center.
Hall should be one of Edmonton's top wingers. Dustin Penner(notes) is coming off a career-high 32 goals, but highly skilled Ales Hemsky(notes) is recovering from a major shoulder injury. Zack Stortini(notes) is an underrated enforcer, able to fight and play quality minutes.
The defense is solid, albeit lacking the young, potential stars the Oilers have up front. Mobile Ryan Whitney(notes) and Tom Gilbert(notes) are the top guys, but they would be no better than a second pairing on good teams. Gritty but offensively limited Ladislav Smid(notes) and Vandermeer are all right for the bottom of the order, and Foster, who reclaimed his career after breaking his leg two years ago, is somewhere in the middle.
A season-opening goalie is likely to emerge from an interesting camp battle among Jeff Deslauriers(notes), Devan Dubnyk(notes) and Martin Gerber(notes). The fate of veteran Nikolai Khabibulin(notes) is uncertain after a back injury that limited him to 18 games last year was followed by a DUI conviction that is likely to result in jail time and derail his early-season comeback hopes.

Dillon Gee spectacular in major-league debut, takes a no-hitter into sixth of 4-1 win over Nationals

Vikings jersey

WASHINGTON - Dillon Gee was so nervous at the beginning of his major-league debut Tuesday night that he feared his first pitch would sail to the backstop. When his start was over, he jokingly wondered if he had blacked out.
"I didn't know what happened out there," he said, football jersey
smiling. The answer is - for a change - something marvelous for the Mets.
Gee, a 24-year-old righthander from Cleburne, Tex., who was drafted in the 21st round in 2007, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. He allowed two hits and one run over seven innings in the Mets' 4-1 victory over Washington in front of 13,835 at Nationals Park. Pitching in front of 13 relatives and friends, Gee struck out four and walked three, joining Randy Sterling and Brian Bannister as the only Mets who brought a no-hitter into the sixth in their debuts.
"He's a pitcher and anytime you catch a pitcher on his game, he can do those types of things," Jerry Manuel said. "You like to see a guy have that kind of presentation the first time. It didn't look like there was any anxiety."
Gee even singled in a run in his first major-league at-bat, although he wasn't the offensive star, too. Ike Davis helped Gee relax by slamming a three-run homer in the first inning, his 18th of the season, a shot off Nationals' rookie Yunesky Maya, whose debut wasn't as smooth as Gee's.
Gee retired the first seven batters he faced before walking Wilson Ramos and did not give up a hit until Met-killer Willie Harris, who usually shatters Met hearts with his glove, led off the sixth inning with a home run. Gee, who did not know of Harris' history of Indianapolis Colts jersey
ruining things for the Mets, said he left a sinker over the plate on the blast.
Gee admitted he was "running out of gas" when Manuel brought in Pedro Feliciano to start the eighth inning. Manuel toyed with the idea of seeing how far Gee, who had thrown only 86 pitches, could go.
"But I thought it was more important to get him out on a high note," Manuel said.
Manuel liked Gee enough in 2009 to bring him north with the Mets out of spring training to pitch in one of the exhibition games at Citi Field before the season and the manager figured Gee would return at some point last year during the regular season. But Gee suffered a labrum injury and made only nine starts in the minors all year.
His arm healed with rehab, and he was terrific for Triple-A Buffalo this season, leading all of Triple-A with 165 strikeouts and going 13-8 with a 4.96 ERA. Manuel even said there were conversations through much of the season about calling up Gee earlier.
Gee's workload - he has thrown 168 innings, including Dallas Cowboys jersey
Triple-A - might keep him from making another start, Manuel said. But, the manager added, "I'd love to see another start. He looks like he could be a piece for this franchise."
